In a groundbreaking shift, the Zero FIR system allows victims to report crimes at any

police station, regardless of jurisdiction. This means no more delays in seeking justice!

Why It Matters:

- Immediate action against offenders

- Preservation of crucial evidence

- Enhanced victim rights and support

How does the Zero FIR system work in practice?

The Zero FIR system allows individuals to file a First Information Report (FIR) at any

police station, regardless of jurisdiction, when reporting a cognizable offence.

### Process Overview:

1. Lodging the Complaint: The victim approaches a police station and provides details

of the crime.

2. Registration: The police must register this as a Zero FIR, marked with ‘0’, without

assigning a regular FIR number.

3. Transfer: The Zero FIR is then forwarded to the appropriate police station with

jurisdiction for further investigation.

4. Investigation: Once transferred, it is re-registered as a regular FIR, and the

investigation begins.

This system aims to expedite justice and prevent evidence tampering by ensuring

prompt action.
